The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiri throws a solid leg kick but Hastings takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kiri.
A nice inside leg kick there by Hastings. That's going to slow Kiri down.
Kiri takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kiri doesn't manage to clinch there - Hastings circles away.
Kiri throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hastings lands with a shot to the body.
Kiri misses with the body kick
and Hastings counters with a leg kick.
Kiri tries to work over Hastings's front leg with a kick but Hastings checks it.
A left lands for Hastings.
A nice inside leg kick there by Hastings. That's going to slow Kiri down.
Good shot there by Hastings.
Hastings scores with the left hand. Kiri knows he should have avoided that one.
Kiri should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kiri fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hastings throws out a head kick that Kiri doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Kiri crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Kiri's eyes and has decided to let it go on!
Donk. Hastings catches Kiri right on the button with a cross.

Hastings moves out of range of the strikes.
Kiri is still on wobbly legs! Can Hastings finish him?
Hastings lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Kiri crumples to the floor! Hastings milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!

After winning the bout, Basil Hastings thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
