Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eric Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Smit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Smit!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smit fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Anderson walks into a stiff left hand from Smit.


It looks like Eric Anderson has been cut.

Smit instigates a clinch.
Anderson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Smit blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Smit tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Anderson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smit has him pressed against the cage.
Smit has had enough of the clinch but Anderson keeps him there for the moment.
Smit jumps guard but Anderson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Smit jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Anderson walks away with a smile on his face. Smit gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Eric Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Smit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Anderson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Smit tries to circle away but Anderson has him pinned against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smit looking to slow down the pace here.
Smit tries to pull guard but Anderson forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Anderson lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Smit tries to break the clinch but Anderson is controlling the position.
Anderson tries to break free but Smit pushes him back against the cage.
Anderson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Smit is fighting off a takedown attempt but Anderson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smit to the mat. Smit regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Anderson stops Smit from standing up.
Anderson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smit is proving hard to escape from.
Smit is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Anderson is controlling him.

Anderson lands a couple of elbows.
Anderson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Smit pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smit fails with the takedown
and Anderson counters with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Anderson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Anderson wanted to stand there but Smit had control of the position.

Anderson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Anderson.

Smit is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anderson defends well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smit tries to score a body lock takedown but Anderson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Anderson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Anderson is pressed up against the cage. Smit has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Anderson down to the mat. Anderson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Anderson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Anderson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smit can do to turn this around?

Smit is looking to control Anderson's arms but Anderson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Smit has his back to the cage.
Smit wants a takedown.
Anderson lands a nice shot to the body.

Anderson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smit looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Anderson is fending him off so far but Smit persists. Nope, Anderson circles away and we're back to standing.

Smit gets tackled into the cage by Anderson. Anderson maintains the clinch.
Smit blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Anderson pulls guard successfully.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Anderson holds on and takes a little breather.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson shoots in looking for a takedown. Smit tries to sprawl out of it but Anderson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smit manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Smit throws a looping overhand right but Anderson ducks down to avoid it.

Jack Smit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smit takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smit is trying to drag Anderson to the mat but Anderson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Smit goes for a takedown in the clinch but Anderson prevents it.

and Anderson finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
