Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Roofer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Kessler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roofer comes to the cage accompanied by Jonesmann Feat. Azad - Der Soldat James Rhyme. Kessler has chosen Yattering - Chase of Thoughts as his entrance music. Ben Roofer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Roofer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Kessler!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kessler punishes Roofer's body with a nice straight punch.
Roofer throws a looping overhand right but Kessler ducks down to avoid it.
Kessler thumps Roofer with a low kick.
Kessler with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Roofer circles away from the clinch attempt.
Roofer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kessler takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Roofer takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Roofer on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kessler misses with the body kick
and Kessler takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kessler has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kessler connects with a crisp jab.

Kessler tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roofer doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Kessler manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kessler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Roofer's guard.

Roofer wants to stand but Kessler is controlling the position.
Kessler postures up in Roofer's guard and throws a big left but Roofer blocks it.
Roofer wants to sweep but no luck.
Roofer is working hard here to advance position.
Kessler is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Roofer is on top in guard.

Kessler has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kessler wants to improve his position but instead Roofer has moved into half guard.
Kessler is holding on to half guard well.
Kessler is continuing to stall.

Kessler is trying to control but can't.
Roofer stalling away here and it's allowed Kessler to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Roofer sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kessler's guard.
Kessler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Roofer is working away from the top position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kessler might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Roofer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kessler takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kessler looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Roofer throws a lazy uppercut
and Kessler counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kessler avoids a kick to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Roofer.
Kessler does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Roofer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kessler was well out of range. Poor timing from Roofer.

Roofer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kessler takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Kessler will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Roofer tries to land a front kick but Kessler steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Roofer finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Kessler paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


It looks like Ben Roofer has been cut.
Roofer gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Kessler counters with a low kick, right behind Roofer 's knee.
Roofer thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kessler if he has to take too many more of those.
Roofer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That kick from Kessler tenderised Roofer's leg. Roofer is trying to keep his angry face on.
Roofer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kessler moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A punch lands to the side of Kessler 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Kessler tries a low kick but Roofer avoids it.
Kessler loads up on a big right hand but Roofer slips the punch.

Kessler ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Roofer throws a body kick that misses.

Kessler stuns Roofer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kessler digs a good hook to Roofer's body.
Roofer fakes the leg kick and cracks Kessler in the body.

Kessler shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ben Roofer will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ben Roofer's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Kessler fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Roofer checks it well.

Kessler walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Kessler throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Roofer stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

I would just about give that final round to Jack Kessler.
