Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eric Matthews!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Talbert swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Matthews to counter with a crisp jab.
Talbert lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Talbert throws a series of punches but Matthews avoids them all with ease.
Talbert throws a lazy right hand but Matthews sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Matthews tries for a takedown but Talbert circles away easily
enabling Talbert to counter with a crisp jab.
Talbert's jab looks to have found its range, popping Matthews under the eye.
Talbert throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Matthews on the side of the head.
Talbert throws a poor cross that misses
and Matthews counters with a series of strikes. Talbert will be more careful next time no doubt.
Talbert misses with an uppercut
and Matthews counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Talbert thinking.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matthews misses with a takedown attempt
and Talbert cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Matthews feints and as Talbert raises his hands in defense, Matthews changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Matthews postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Talbert is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matthews, into his guard.


That's one minute gone in the round.
Talbert lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Talbert pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Matthews is keeping the position for now.

Matthews is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Matthews is looking for a triangle but Talbert pushes his legs off easily.
Talbert engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Talbert passes Matthews's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Matthews actively working from the bottom here.

Matthews looking for subs from the bottom but Talbert mounts him!
Matthews is looking to get to half guard.

Talbert has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Matthews bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Matthews postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Talbert is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Matthews, into his guard.


Matthews escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Talbert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Talbert has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Matthews is looking for a triangle but Talbert pushes his legs off easily.

Matthews working for submissions but it's allowed Talbert to get to half guard.
Matthews is looking to improve his position.
Matthews pushes Talbert off looking to stand but Talbert dives back in and keeps control.

Matthews looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Matthews is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Talbert pulls his head out easily.
Talbert not doing much here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Talbert dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Matthews shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Talbert counters with a nice body shot.
Talbert is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Matthews can do to turn this around?

Matthews is rocked!
Talbert is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Matthews flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Matthews is out cold! Talbert holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
