PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yaz Rosha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Witold Kotlecinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Witold Kotlecinski struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Witold Kotlecinski!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Kotlecinski.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rosha. Kotlecinski does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rosha takes a swing at Kotlecinski's ribcage but misses.
We've been told by Rosha's head coaches at My own... that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A combination from Kotlecinski does no damage.
Rosha throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kotlecinski sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kotlecinski defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rosha.

Rosha shoots in and bounces Kotlecinski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rosha has gone for a leg lock! Kotlecinski slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rosha's guard.

Rosha has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kotlecinski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kotlecinski stands up and waves to Rosha to follow him.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rosha.
Kotlecinski throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Rosha shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kotlecinski's guard.

Rosha seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rosha drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kotlecinski dives on top into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rosha escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kotlecinski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rosha has his foot on Kotlecinski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kotlecinski works his way back into a safe position though.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rosha is on top in guard.

Rosha won't allow Kotlecinski to get back to his feet.

Rosha drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kotlecinski dives on top into guard.

Rosha misses with a hook
and Kotlecinski counters with a three punch combo that has Rosha backing up. Rosha nods at Kotlecinski to acknowledge the strikes.
Kotlecinski leaves Rosha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rosha shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rosha showed some decent athleticism there.

Rosha is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kotlecinski has managed to free his arm - good work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rosha stands and throws Kotlecinski's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rosha is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kotlecinski is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kotlecinski regains half guard there - taking advantage of Rosha's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Rosha is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kotlecinski has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kotlecinski pushes Rosha off looking to stand but Rosha dives back in and keeps control.

Rosha missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Rosha is pressing down on Kotlecinski's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kotlecinski is holding on for now.

Rosha is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rosha wants to free his trapped foot but Kotlecinski is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rosha shoots in for a double leg but Kotlecinski sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kotlecinski throws a right hand that Rosha ducks under and follows up with a left that Rosha also avoids with ease.
Rosha misses with a body punch
and Kotlecinski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
No joy there for Kotlecinski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kotlecinski displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rosha throws out the jab.
Rosha misses with a takedown attempt - Kotlecinski sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yaz Rosha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No joy there for Kotlecinski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kotlecinski felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Kotlecinski is trying to stand up here but Rosha is controlling him well.

Rosha is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kotlecinski is just riding it out for now. Rosha eventually gives up the hold.
