PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sinbad Baba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Baba might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to King of Seven Seas. Riggs has chosen big gun - AC/DC as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sinbad Baba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Riggs!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baba lands the left hand.

Riggs looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Riggs throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Baba on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Baba tries to get out of the position.

Riggs is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Riggs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Riggs throwing shots but Baba is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baba blocking the ground and pound attempt from Riggs.
Riggs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Baba knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Baba is refusing to be controlled, as Riggs sits in half guard.

Riggs throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Baba's coaches at Miletich Xtreme Fighting Systems have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Riggs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Riggs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Riggs is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Baba sees it coming and defends easily.
Baba pushes Riggs off looking to stand but Riggs dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Riggs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Baba wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Riggs tries to pass to full mount but Baba defends it.

Riggs is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Baba defends it well.

Riggs is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Baba is just riding it out for now. Riggs eventually gives up the hold.

Riggs misses with a head shot. Baba uses the momentum to regain guard.
Baba keeping moving, preventing Riggs from controlling successfully.
Baba wants to stand up but Riggs is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Riggs gets the takedown into side control.

Riggs wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Baba, who protects the arm well.
Baba tries to improve position but can't.
Baba is trying to buck Riggs off.
Riggs working the body and head with strikes.
Baba is not content to let Riggs control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Riggs dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Baba is looking to slow Riggs down with leg kicks.
Riggs keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Riggs tries for a takedown but Baba sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Baba throws an overhand right that lands on Riggs's shoulder, as Riggs tries to avoid the shot.

Baba lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Riggs takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Sinbad Baba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Riggs shoots in but Baba avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Riggs has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Baba swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Baba throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Baba looks to score with a jab to the body but Riggs is just out of range.
Riggs shoots in for a double leg but Baba sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sinbad Baba has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Riggs.

Baba throws a good cross that connects.
Baba uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Baba drops Riggs with a beautiful combination! Riggs stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Baba is looking for the KO!
Baba is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Riggs can do to turn this around?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Riggs is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Baba doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Riggs.

Sinbad Baba is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Riggs takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Baba misses with a few strikes there.
Baba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Riggs.
Baba throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Baba will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nice sprawl there from Baba as Riggs shoots in.
Riggs shoots for a double leg takedown but Baba sprawls well. He's pushed Riggs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Riggs ducks right into an uppercut from Baba.

Riggs shoots in for a double leg but Baba sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sinbad Baba is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Baba is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Riggs.
Baba scores with a hook to the body. Riggs takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baba throws a hook but Riggs avoids it easily.
Baba lands a nice shot that snaps Riggs's head back.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Baba but Baba pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Riggs fails with the takedown.
Baba throws a nice outside leg kick.
Baba fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Riggs manages to avoid it.
Baba is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Baba tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Riggs was well out of range. Poor timing from Baba.
Baba scores with a crisp jab that stopped Riggs in his tracks.
Riggs fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Baba lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Riggs has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Riggs and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

A victorious Sinbad Baba thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
John Riggs was interviewed post fight and said 'fuking embarassing losing my 1st title defense, but i got no 1 to blame but my self, i'd like a chance 2 win the title back if thats possible..i wont take morgan so lightly next time...i wanna thank the fans 4 being here u guyz were great thank u :)'.
