PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronaldo Felipe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heinrich Cornelius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Heinrich Cornelius was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Heinrich Cornelius!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornelius scores with a shot to the body.
A good leg kick by Cornelius.
Felipe closes the distance but Cornelius moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Felipe tries to clinch up.
Cornelius ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Felipe moves away.
Cornelius throws a right hand that Felipe ducks under and follows up with a left that Felipe also avoids with ease.
Cornelius jabs at Felipe's body.
Felipe keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cornelius lands a slapping body shot.
Cornelius fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Felipe manages to avoid it.
Cornelius throws a shot from downtown. Felipe moves away and avoids it.
Cornelius lands a nice shot to the body.
Cornelius turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Cornelius. Felipe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cornelius is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Felipe rather than just go for the knockout.

Heinrich Cornelius is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Felipe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Felipe seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Cornelius is holding on tight.

Felipe wants to finish this one by submission but Cornelius is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Felipe.
Cornelius is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Felipe looking for a guillotine from mount but Cornelius is having none of it.

Felipe is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Cornelius is surviving well by controlling Felipe's body position as best he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cornelius can do anything to dispel that myth.
Cornelius sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Felipe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cornelius defends it well.

Felipe with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cornelius to score with a decent uppercut.

Cornelius has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Heinrich Cornelius seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Felipe rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cornelius moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Cornelius scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Felipe doesn't seem bothered though.

Felipe dives in and grabs Cornelius's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cornelius pushes down on Felipe's head and hops out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cornelius fakes the body blow, causing Felipe to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Felipe goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

In his post fight interview, Heinrich Cornelius started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
