PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fent Langt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Amsterdam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Langt kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Invincible . Fent Langt has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fent Langt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Robert Amsterdam!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langt moves away from the strike by Amsterdam.
Langt misses with a takedown attempt - Amsterdam sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Amsterdam checks a low kick from Langt.
Amsterdam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Langt circles away.
Amsterdam's coach down at Tōshi was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Amsterdam's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Langt stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Langt wants it to stay on the feet.
Langt rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Amsterdam moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Amsterdam showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Langt.
Langt tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amsterdam defends well and Langt ends up having to push Amsterdam into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amsterdam drops down looking for an ankle pick but Langt pulls his leg out and moves away.

Amsterdam trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Amsterdam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Langt swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Amsterdam is fighting to break Langt's control of his arms but Langt is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Amsterdam defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Langt.

Langt rushes Amsterdam and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Amsterdam drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Amsterdam drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Langt gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Langt jumps guard but Amsterdam stands there with Langt around his waist. Langt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Langt wants to clinch.
Fent Langt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Langt.
Amsterdam has a takedown stuffed.
Langt tries to clinch up but Amsterdam circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Langt.
Langt shoots in for a double leg but Amsterdam sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Amsterdam leaves Langt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Amsterdam closes the distance and clinches up with Langt, looking for a takedown. Amsterdam pushes Langt against the cage but Langt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Amsterdam connects with a nice short shot to Langt's temple.

Langt actively working from the bottom here.
Langt tries to roll over but Amsterdam keeps him under control.
Amsterdam looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Langt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Amsterdam looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Amsterdam seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Langt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Amsterdam is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Langt sees it coming and defends easily.

Amsterdam looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Langt is not content to let Amsterdam control the position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Amsterdam lands a nice short elbow.

Amsterdam is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Langt is looking for a sweep. Amsterdam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Robert Amsterdam showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
