Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mansour Barnaoui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Day!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day moves out of range of the strikes.
Barnaoui throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Day cracks Barnaoui with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Day ducks under a wild hook from Barnaoui.
Barnaoui misses with a wild combination.
Barnaoui takes a swing at Day's ribcage but misses.
Barnaoui has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Day counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Barnaoui!
Day tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Barnaoui is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Day has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Day wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Barnaoui, who protects the arm well.
Day tries to move into full mount but can't pass Barnaoui's legs.

Day tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Day has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Barnaoui wants to get back to his feet but Day drags him back down.
Barnaoui trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Day is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Barnaoui knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Day fails to take his opponent's back.

Day throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Day won't let Barnaoui get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Barnaoui knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Day on the ground.
Barnaoui's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Day wants to take Barnaoui's back but he can't do it this time.
Day tries to control but Barnaoui wriggling away.

Barnaoui is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Day gets his way!

Barnaoui is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Day.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day wants to control from the top but Barnaoui keeps moving.
Day tries to free his leg and advance position but Barnaoui is retaining full guard.
Barnaoui wants to stand up but Day is controlling him.

Day passes into half guard.
Barnaoui wants to get back to his feet.
Day frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Barnaoui defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Day.
Day looking to control but Barnaoui is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Nick Day seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
Mansour Barnaoui was interviewed post fight and said 'Another loss is harsh. I want come out here and have an exciting back and forth war, but my opponent's just want to take the fight to the ground. It's frustrating.'.
