Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Apollo Gutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hess comes to the cage accompanied by Demiurge. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jon Hess!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Apollo Gutz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gutz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Hess will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Hess misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gutz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gutz shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hess manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Hess utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Gutz working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Gutz wants to control from the top but Hess keeps moving.
Hess is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gutz is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
