The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elissondo falls off balance throwing a combination

and Sharpe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Sharpe.
Elissondo prevents the takedown attempt.
Elissondo blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Elissondo decides to pull guard.

Elissondo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Elissondo works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Elissondo trying to control the position from guard on top but Sharpe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sharpe looking for a guillotine here but Elissondo defends easily.

Sharpe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sharpe wants to hit a switch here but Elissondo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Sharpe there!
Elissondo wants to control the pace but Sharpe is squirming around nicely.
Elissondo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sharpe haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Elissondo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sharpe turns into him and now he's in Elissondo's guard.

Sharpe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Sharpe stands and steps away. Elissondo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Elissondo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sharpe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Elissondo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sharpe to his feet.

Elissondo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sharpe sprawls well initially but Elissondo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sharpe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Elissondo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sharpe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Elissondo defends well.
Elissondo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Elissondo content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Sharpe has locked up a guillotine! Sharpe's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Elissondo is holding on here and Sharpe must be using up a lot of energy. Elissondo has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Sharpe gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
