The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nikolaev tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rude swivels and escapes.

I was talking to Nikolaev's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Nikolaev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rude's waist but Rude gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nikolaev off to one side.

Rude tries to control but Nikolaev manages to take his back.

Nikolaev is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nikolaev is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Rude is defending well though. Nikolaev let's go of the attempt for now.

After the fight, Volya Nikolaev was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
