PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Brick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryer Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Brick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bryer Michael!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brick ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Michael moves away.

Brick closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Michael tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Michael is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Brick's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brick thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Michael's head.

Michael is looking to improve his position.
Michael really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Michael is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Brick looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Michael makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Michael.
Brick slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Michael tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brick controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Brick looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Michael is trying to control but can't.
Brick content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Michael wants to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Brick is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Michael won't allow Brick to pass to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Michael wants to control but Brick is keeping busy.
Michael is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brick decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Brick takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A nice leg kick lands there from Michael.
Brick throws the left hand but Michael avoids the punch easily.

Brick drives through with a takedown into Michael's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Brick dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Michael throws a wild body kick that Brick sees coming a mile off.

Brick decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Michael is trying to maintain the position but Brick is very close to passing his half guard.
Michael blocking the ground and pound attempt from Brick.
Brick is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Michael can do to turn this around?

Michael wants to hold on but Brick pushes him away.

Brick get's back to his feet.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brick lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Michael has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Michael and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Brick has control of an arm but Michael manages to advance to Brick's back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brick just trying to survive but Michael is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Brick tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Michael trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Brick tries to reverse the position but Michael maintains control.
Michael can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brick is looking to escape.
Brick just holding on.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Michael tries to push Brick's head away but Brick is holding on tight.
Michael tries to control but Brick wriggling away.
Michael prevents Brick from getting the reversal.
Brick is squirming around, avoiding Michael's attempts to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brick regains half guard.
Brick on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brick tries to get out of the position.
Brick is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Michael's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Michael's back!
Michael trying to control the hands but Brick won't let him.
Brian Brick overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brick cracks Michael with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Michael from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Michael is trying to break free.
The referee is taking a good look at Michael as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Brick!

Brick is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Michael taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Brick.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brian Brick!
A very excited looking Brian Brick made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
