Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Brandon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Catch Em By Surprise. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Brandon!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandon turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Alvarez gets tackled into the cage by Brandon. Brandon maintains the clinch.

Brandon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Brandon connects with a right hand. Alvarez shakes it off.
Nice uppercut there from Brandon.


It looks like Ricky Alvarez has been cut.
Alvarez misses with a double jab

and Brandon counters by moving into the clinch.

Brandon has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Alvarez regains guard immediately.
Brandon tries to free his leg and advance position but Alvarez is retaining full guard.
Brandon pushing down on Alvarez's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brandon seems to be looking for submissions.
Brandon performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Brandon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Brandon wants to control but Alvarez is keeping him busy.
Alvarez is looking to improve his position.
Brandon stalling.
Brandon working over Alvarez with some ground and pound. Alvarez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Brandon is looking to advance position but Alvarez won't allow it.
Brandon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We've been informed that Brandon has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Alvarez is trying to control Brandon's posture but Brandon avoids it.

Alvarez takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brandon looks up at the clock and then as Alvarez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Brandon smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Brandon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.


Alvarez is rocked!
Alvarez is breathing heavily.
Brandon scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Alvarez is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Brandon can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenny Brandon!
A relieved looking Kenny Brandon thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
