PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bertram Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glynn BT (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Bertram Battle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Glynn BT!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BT misses with a takedown attempt
letting Battle counter with a right hand.
BT misses with a hook

and Battle counters by clinching up.
BT tries to break the clinch but Battle is controlling the position.
BT changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Battle fights it off and pushes away nicely.
BT slips a jab and a cross from Battle.
BT dives in and grabs Battle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Battle pushes down on BT's head and hops out.
Bertram Battle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glynn BT.
BT tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Battle manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Battle lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as BT backs up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Battle gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Battle throws an elbow but it misses.
BT has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Battle throws a punch but it's blocked by BT.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Battle.
Battle stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
BT has Battle pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Battle manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
BT has Battle pushed against the cage.
BT is trying to break free.
Battle working aggressively here.
Battle keeps the fight in the clinch, despite BT's efforts to push away.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, BT just misses with a elbow thrown towards Battle's brow.
BT has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Battle is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
BT jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Battle walks away with a smile on his face. BT gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
BT gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Battle finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Bertram Battle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Battle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Battle throws a low kick but BT avoids it.
Battle misses with a kick to the body.
BT shoots and misses
and Battle counters with a left and a right that stings BT.
Battle moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Battle looks to land a combination but BT avoids it well.
BT shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Battle counters with a series of strikes. BT will be more careful next time no doubt.
Battle throws a sloppy head kick and BT moves out of range easily.
BT is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Battle.
Battle misses with a body kick.
BT takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Battle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Battle tries a head kick but it misses.

Battle tries to keep at a distance but BT has taken the fight into the clinch.
Battle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
BT is trying to pull guard but Battle has him pressed against the cage.
Battle misses with a hook to the ribs.
BT tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
BT prevents a body shot from Battle.
Battle misses with a hook from the clinch.

BT's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Battle throws a body kick that misses.
BT moves out of range as Battle throws a body kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
BT throws a right hand that misses
and Battle counters with a thumping low kick.
BT closes the distance and clinches up with Battle, looking for a takedown. BT pushes Battle against the cage but Battle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
BT takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Battle pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Battle throws a body kick that misses.
BT with a lazy takedown attempt
and Battle counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Battle misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
BT tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
BT fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
BT misses with a takedown attempt - Battle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bertram Battle dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


BT shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Battle as he jumps to the side.
BT doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Battle counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Battle moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Battle throws a right hand that BT ducks under and follows up with a left that BT also avoids with ease.

BT closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Battle managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by BT.
BT trying to control the action but Battle is working from the bottom.
Battle is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Battle keeping his opponent close.
BT controls the position.
BT wants to stand but Battle is controlling his arm.

BT wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Battle, who protects the arm well.
Battle is trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

BT tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Battle is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that BT can do to turn this around?

BT wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Battle, who protects the arm well.
A control attempt from Battle but he's now mounted!
Battle is trying desperately to improve position.
BT working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Battle slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
BT sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Battle defending well though.
Battle is not content to let BT control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BT missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Battle is pressing down on BT's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
BT wants to control from the top but Battle keeps moving.
BT pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Battle is keeping the position for now.
Battle can't keep his opponent in guard - BT advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

BT is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Battle wants to get back to full guard but BT has passed into side control.
BT moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Battle gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
BT thows a huge punch but Battle dodges it nicely.

BT stands up and beckons Battle to join him on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Glynn BT showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


BT throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Battle misses with a body kick.
BT misses with a takedown
and Battle counters with a two punch combo.
Glynn BT seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
BT moves out of range of the body kick.
Battle stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Battle wants it to stay on the feet.
BT fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bertram Battle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Glynn BT.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
BT goes for a double leg but Battle avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Battle continues to drive forward.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Battle creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
BT tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Battle just stands there and leans against the cage.
Battle using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
BT takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

BT ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. BT no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Battle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
BT wants to get back to his feet but Battle passes into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Battle connects with a nice short shot to BT's temple.

Battle is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Battle is sneakily working for an arm triangle but BT sees it coming and defends easily.

BT looking for a kimura from the bottom but Battle passes into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Battle goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, BT rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Battle's guard! Nice work there by BT!
BT in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Battle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Glynn BT has got the better of the ground game so far.
BT advances position into side control!
BT wants to lay and pray for a moment but Battle keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Battle is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but BT is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Battle blocking the ground and pound.
BT looking to finish with strikes here!
BT looking to control but Battle is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Battle is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Battle tries to reverse the position but BT maintains control.
BT thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
BT controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
BT throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
BT lands a big elbow.
BT prevents Battle from getting the reversal.
BT can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Battle is looking to escape.
Battle tries to reverse the position but BT maintains control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
BT controlling his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Glynn BT.
I think BT has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
