PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kabal Labak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taishi Mori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mori has chosen The House That Snow Built as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kabal Labak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Taishi Mori!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mori shoots in and bounces Labak off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Labak wants to sweep here but Mori controlling him for the moment.
Labak is working hard here to advance position.
Labak is trying to control the position but Mori postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mori trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Labak manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Mori looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Labak wants to control from the top but Mori keeps moving.

Mori is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mori keeping full guard, as Labak tries to pass.
Labak has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Mori looking for a guillotine here but Labak defends easily.
Mori can't keep his opponent in guard - Labak advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Labak is thwarting Mori's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Labak is pressing down on Mori's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mori is holding on for now.
Mori manages to get to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Labak stands and throws Mori's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Labak remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Labak taking a break here but Mori is having none of it and regains half guard.
Mori is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mori pushes Labak off looking to stand but Labak dives back in and keeps control.

Mori is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Labak pulls his head out easily.
Labak is looking to take a break and control but Mori is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Labak content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Labak moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Mori.
Mori is not content to let Labak control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Labak is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Labak is trying to get an arm triangle but Mori is defending well.
Mori tries to improve position but can't.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mori is being controlled here.
Mori is looking to reverse the position.

Labak thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Labak advances to mount.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mori throws a sloppy head kick and Labak moves out of range easily.
Labak dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mori has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Mori scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Labak wants to control but Mori postures up.

Mori goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Labak has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mori but great work by Labak.
Kabal Labak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Labak tries to advance position but instead Mori slips a leg back in to half guard.
Mori wants to control but Labak is keeping busy.
Mori is refusing to be controlled, as Labak sits in half guard.

Mori is pressing down on Labak's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mori is trying to keep Labak in close.

Mori is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Labak is aware though and is defending well.
Mori is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mori controls Labak momentarily but Labak frees himself.

Mori is looking for a triangle here but Labak uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Labak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mori keeps working.
Mori is trying to maintain the position but Labak is very close to passing his half guard.

Labak wants to take a breather but Mori is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Labak clinches up against the cage.
Labak lands a left hand.
Labak throws a punch but it's blocked by Mori.

Mori breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mori throws a head kick but Labak moves out of range.
Labak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mori was well out of range. Poor timing from Labak.
Mori wants to land a leg kick but Labak is out of range.
Labak avoids the head kick by Mori.
Labak misses with an uppercut.

Labak moves out of range of the body kick.
Mori misses with a body kick.

and Labak counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Labak.
Mori tries for a takedown. No joy.
Labak tries to throw a body punch but Mori avoids it by throwing Labak back against the cage.
Mori is looking to break free of the clinch but Labak has double underhooks.

It looks like Taishi Mori has been cut.
Mori taking a breather.
With the fighters up against the cage, Mori throws an elbow but misses.
Labak tries to throw a body punch but Mori avoids it by throwing Labak back against the cage.
Mori tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Labak avoids it.
Mori is looking to take this one to the mat.
Kabal Labak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taishi Mori.
Labak throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Moris head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mori is working for takedown but Labak is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mori is breathing heavily.
Mori blocking some punches.
Mori has had enough of the clinch but Labak keeps him there for the moment.
Mori misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Labak.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Labak swings wildly with an uppercut but Mori uses good head movement to avoid it.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Labak.
A head punch on the inside from Labak fails to land.
Labak tries to throw a body punch but Mori avoids it by throwing Labak back against the cage.
Labak on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Mori looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Labak goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Labak pushes Mori back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Labak misses with a hook to the ribs.

Mori breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Labak scores with the left hand. Mori knows he should have avoided that one.
Mori slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Labak moves in looking to clinch but Mori pushes him off.

Mori shoots in and gets a takedown into Labak's guard.
Labak bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mori's guard.

Labak content to stall in guard here.
Labak in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Mori is looking to cinch up a triangle. Labak throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mori's body to avoid the submission. Mori has instead reached around Labak's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mori arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Taishi Mori really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Kore Fight Nutrition [TG] logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
