Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Garfunkel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordus Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garfunkel comes to the cage accompanied by Haifisch. Clay comes into a darkened arena with his song building. SCOTLAND THE BRAVE !!! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Frank Garfunkel has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Frank Garfunkel seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gordus Clay!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clay moves into range and clinches up with Garfunkel.
Clay throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Garfunkels head.
A body shot lands from Clay.
Garfunkel misses with a punch to the body.
Clay misses with a punch to the body.
Clay misses with the head strike.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Clay.
Clay lands with a left to the head.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Clay.


It looks like Frank Garfunkel has been cut.
Garfunkel blocks a body shot from Clay.
Garfunkel tries to score a body lock takedown but Clay shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Garfunkel wants a takedown.
Clay manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Clay digs a right hand into Garfunkel's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Garfunkel's gas tank.
Come on Clay - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Clay throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Garfunkels head.

Clay tries to throw a body punch but Garfunkel avoids it by throwing Clay back against the cage.
A short right from Garfunkel on the inside.
Garfunkel blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Garfunkel wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Garfunkel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Garfunkel's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Clay gets underhooks to prevent Garfunkel's takedown attempt.
Clay tries to work over Garfunkel's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Garfunkel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Clay just stands there and leans against the cage.

Garfunkel takes a shot to the head.
Clay tries to throw a body punch but Garfunkel avoids it by throwing Clay back against the cage.
Clay misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Clay tries a body shot but Garfunkel blocks it.
Clay goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Clay lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Garfunkel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Garfunkel tries to pull guard but Clay holds him up against the cage and eventually Garfunkel drops back down to his feet.

Garfunkel gets control of Clay's arms and successfully pulls guard. Garfunkel will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Clay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garfunkel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Garfunkel utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Clay lands a couple of digs.
Clay stands and throws Garfunkel's legs to the side, diving into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Garfunkel is trying to improve his position.
Clay advances nicely into full mount.
Clay raining down shots from the mount!
Clay pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garfunkel regains half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Garfunkel tries to get to full guard but Clay has control of the leg.
Garfunkel is working hard here to advance position.
Clay passes to side control.
Garfunkel is not content to let Clay control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay scores with a couple of short elbows.
Clay tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Clay cracks Garfunkel with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Clay in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Garfunkel gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Garfunkel working to try and regain half guard.
Garfunkel sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Garfunkel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Garfunkel.

Garfunkel looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Clay is defending well. Garfunkel quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Clay has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Garfunkel celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Garfunkel!
