PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Devon Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Diddler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Devon Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kid Diddler!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Diddler counters by moving into the clinch.

Gonzalez jumps guard and drags Diddler to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gonzalez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gonzalez keeping moving, preventing Diddler from controlling successfully.
Gonzalez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gonzalez seems keen to control Diddler's posture.
Gonzalez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzalez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gonzalez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diddler for as long as he can get away with.

Gonzalez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gonzalez wants to take his opponent's back but Diddler doesn't allow it.

Diddler is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Gonzalez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Diddler did well to prevent Gonzalez getting side control.

Gonzalez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Diddler makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Diddler.

Gonzalez uses his free foot to push down on Diddler's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Diddler.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Gonzalez.

Gonzalez takes Diddler's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Diddler is in trouble.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Devon Gonzalez dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Diddler fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gonzalez sprawls well initially but Diddler persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Diddler thows a huge punch but Gonzalez dodges it nicely.
Gonzalez is trying to get back to full guard.

Gonzalez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diddler manages to get himself to full guard.

You can see the frustration on Diddler's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Diddler is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Devon Gonzalez showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gonzalez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Devon Gonzalez opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
