PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dragon Slayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tweedle Dee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dee has chosen Chumbawamba - Tubthumping as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dragon Slayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 45 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Tweedle Dee!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dee works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Slayer takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dee throws the left hand but Slayer avoids the punch easily.
Dee fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Slayer misses with a low kick.
Slayer avoids the body shot from Dee.
Good work by Slayer as he checks the leg kick.
Slayer punishes Dee's body with a nice straight punch.
Dee walks into a left hand.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Dee has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Slayer swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Dee fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Dee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slayer's waist but Slayer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dee off to one side.
Slayer moves out of range as Dee throws a body kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Slayer.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Slayer counters with a left and a right that stings Dee.
Slayer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Slayer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dee.

Dee dives in and grabs Slayer's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slayer pushes down on Dee's head and hops out.
Dee throws out a leg kick but Slayer moves out of range and Dee only half commits.
Slayer looks to land a right hand but Dee moved out of range.
Dee throws a right and a left that both miss.
Dee throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Slayer counters by clinching up.
Slayer cracks Dee with a nice body shot.
Slayer is leaning against Dee and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Slayer lands with a light punch inside.
Slayer misses with a punch on the inside.
Slayer scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Dee has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Slayer is trying to keep an underhook but Dee manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Dee stands up over Slayer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Dee throws an elbow that misses. Slayer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dee's guard. Nice move by Slayer!

Dee wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Slayer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dee wants to improve his position but instead Slayer has moved into half guard.
Dee is trying to control but can't.

Dee is looking for a sweep. Slayer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Slayer thuds his right hand into Dee's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Dee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Slayer sprawls well. Slayer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dee gets slowly back to his feet.

Dee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Slayer manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dee is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Slayer.
Slayer doesn't manage to clinch there - Dee circles away.

Tweedle Dee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That kick from Dee tenderised Slayer's leg. Slayer is trying to keep his angry face on.

Slayer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Dee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dee lands in his opponent's guard.
Tweedle Dee has got the better of the ground game so far.

Slayer is working hard here to advance position.

Slayer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dee throws out the jab.

Dee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Slayer moves away.

Dee tries to land a front kick but Slayer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Slayer avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dragon Slayer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Slayer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dee moves away.
Slayer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Dee throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Slayer lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Dee has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Dee and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Dee wants to control from the top but Slayer keeps moving.
Slayer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tweedle Dee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Slayer fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dee checks it well.
Slayer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Slayer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Dee is able to avoid easily.
A solid leg kick lands there for Dee.
Slayer missing with a left hand there. Dee was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Slayer throws a half hearted mid kick.
Dee drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Dee ducks right into an uppercut from Slayer.
Slayer walks into a left hand.
Slayer throws a nice outside leg kick.
Slayer misses with a body shot

and Dee counters with a nice double leg into side control. Slayer won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slayer keeps working.
Slayer is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Dee advances nicely into full mount.

Dee lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.


Slayer is rocked!
Dee looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Slayer covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
