PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alen Delon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sackett has chosen Sultan`s of Swing as his entrance music. Logan Sackett will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Alen Delon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Logan Sackett!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sackett fails to land with a series of punches.

Delon tries to sprawl but Sackett drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sackett is trying to control. Delon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Delon is looking for a sweep. Sackett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sackett seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sackett wants to pass to mount but Delon is defending the position.
Delon manages to get to full guard.
Delon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sackett is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Delon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Delon is on top in guard.

Delon trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Sackett manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Delon had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sackett defends it easily.
Delon pulls Sackett in to control the position.
Delon throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Delon holds on and takes a little breather.
Sackett trying to control the position from guard on top but Delon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Delon wants to sweep but no luck.

Sackett pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Delon is keeping the position for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Delon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Delon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sackett pushes down on Delon's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Sackett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Delon manages to get to full guard.
Sackett passes Delon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Delon manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Delon doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Delon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sackett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sackett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Delon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sackett.
Sackett dives in for a single leg takedown but Delon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Alen Delon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Logan Sackett.
Delon drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sackett pulls his leg out and moves away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Delon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sackett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Delon stalling away here and it's allowed Sackett to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Delon wants to control from the top but Sackett keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sackett fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Delon is out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Delon. No joy for Sackett on that attempt.

Sackett throws a head kick that Delon semi-blocks.
Sackett shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Delon but Delon pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Delon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Sackett takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Sackett is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Delon pulls his head out easily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Delon lands a nice short elbow.

Sackett blocking the ground and pound attempt from Delon.
Alen Delon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Delon is taking a breather. Sackett says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Delon passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sackett!
Delon lands a couple of good shots and Sackett has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Delon tries to get the hooks in deep but Sackett pushed the leg off.
Delon is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Delon gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Delon gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Delon apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Sackett fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Delon sprawls well initially but Sackett persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Delon is trying to maintain the position but Sackett is very close to passing his half guard.
Delon wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sackett looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sackett is working for a kimura but Delon is defending it quite comfortably.
Delon is looking to control Sackett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Delon avoid being mounted?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sackett is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Delon!
Delon is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sackett is looking to stand but Sackett has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Delon is trying desperately to improve position.
Sackett avoids the attempt from Delon to control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alen Delon.
I think Delon has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
