Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winston McCall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCall has chosen Parkway Drive - Sleepwalker as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Winston McCall!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Ivan Kurochkin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields lands a slapping body shot.
Shields stuffs the takedown.
Shields misses with a kick to the body.
Shields tries to land a front kick but McCall steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Shields wants to land a leg kick but McCall is out of range.
McCall looks to throw a body kick

and Shields counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Shields trying to mount his opponent but McCall defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shields connects with a nice short shot to McCall's temple.

Shields slips a nice elbow through McCall's hands, connecting with McCall's forehead.

Shields is working for a kimura but McCall is defending it quite comfortably.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shields not landing any meaningful shots this time.
McCall is looking to get back to full guard here but Shields has managed to pass to side control instead.

McCall is not going to allow Shields to sit and survive in this position.

McCall has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Shields breaks McCall's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

McCall looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Shields wants to control from the top but McCall keeps moving.

McCall wants to take a breather but Shields manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for McCall.

Shields escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

McCall thows a huge punch but Shields dodges it nicely.
Shields is doing well to control the position and prevent McCall from advancing to side control.

McCall is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A close second round but Winston McCall will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


McCall misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shields misses with a left hand
and McCall counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
McCall wants to slow Shields down by chopping away at his legs.
Shields fails to land with a series of punches.
A big right from Shields misses.
McCall throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

McCall jabs at Shields's body.
McCall throws a nice outside leg kick.
McCall fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shields looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

McCall gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Shields to score an easy takedown into full guard.

McCall has his foot on Shields's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shields works his way back into a safe position though.
McCall is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Shields is looking to work some ground and pound but McCall has wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Shields accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McCall wants to sweep here but Shields controlling him for the moment.

We've been hearing that Shields has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Shields tries to pass to full mount but McCall defends it.

Shields lands a nice shot to the head.

Shields is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, McCall has managed to escape the submission attempt.
McCall is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McCall wants to control but Shields is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nick Shields showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Shields has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
