Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Montgomery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Klomp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jesse Klomp will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Will Montgomery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jesse Klomp!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Montgomery gets caught flat footed, as Klomp shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Montgomery seems keen to control Klomp's posture.

Klomp wants to pass the guard but Montgomery is keeping the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Montgomery shoots in and bounces Klomp off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Montgomery wanted to stand there but Klomp had control of the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Klomp closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Montgomery's guard.

Montgomery escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Klomp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Klomp is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Montgomery is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Klomp is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Klomp is on top in guard.

Montgomery pulls Klomp in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Klomp throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Klomp tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Montgomery defends well and Klomp ends up having to push Montgomery into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Montgomery breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Montgomery counters with a left and a right that stings Klomp.

Montgomery is trying to keep Klomp in close.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Montgomery can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Klomp controls the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Klomp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Will Montgomery has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesse Klomp.

Montgomery has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Klomp is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Montgomery.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Montgomery tries to improve position but can't.
Klomp is looking to take a break and control but Montgomery is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Klomp is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Klomp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Klomp takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Klomp moves into range and clinches up with Montgomery.

Klomp is fighting off a takedown attempt but Montgomery is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Klomp to the mat. Klomp regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Montgomery accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Klomp tries to bum rush Montgomery with a series of wild strikes but Montgomery uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Klomp closes the distance and clinches.
Montgomery is trying to break the clinch but Klomp has him pressed against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Montgomery turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Montgomery manages to end up in side control.

Klomp is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Montgomery tries to score with some ground and pound. Klomp controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
