PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eusebio Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Tabernacle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Eusebio Peterson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Eusebio Peterson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Tabernacle!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Peterson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Peterson tries to stand and escape but Tabernacle actually recovers to full guard.
Peterson is looking to stand up but Tabernacle won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tabernacle controlling the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Peterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tabernacle sprawls well initially but Peterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Peterson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Peterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Peterson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Tabernacle controls his leg.
Tabernacle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Peterson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Tabernacle is holding on to half guard well.
Peterson throws a strike but Tabernacle avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Peterson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tabernacle is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Peterson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Peterson swings around for an armbar but Tabernacle sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Peterson's guard.

Tabernacle has hold of Peterson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Peterson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Peterson tries to buck Tabernacle off but he can't manage it.

Tabernacle looking for a guillotine from mount but Peterson is having none of it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Peterson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Peterson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Tabernacle has control of Peterson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Peterson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Peterson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tabernacle controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Tabernacle dominated that round.
That's time! Peterson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Peterson wants to stand but Tabernacle has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Tabernacle holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Tabernacle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Peterson's guard.

Tabernacle pushes down on Peterson's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Tabernacle is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Peterson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Tabernacle is thwarting Peterson's attempts to control the position.

Tabernacle is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Peterson is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
