PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ramen Noodles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spike St Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Noodles might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to I Have a Dream. Spike St Pierre is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ramen Noodles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Spike St Pierre!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Pierre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Noodles.

St Pierre drives through with a takedown into guard.

Noodles has his foot on St Pierre's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. St Pierre works his way back into a safe position though.
St Pierre stands up over Noodles, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Noodles is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

St Pierre is looking for a sweep. Noodles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
St Pierre is staying active underneath Noodles, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

St Pierre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Noodles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if St Pierre can do anything to dispel that myth.

A close round but Spike St Pierre will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


St Pierre throws a sloppy head kick and Noodles moves out of range easily.

Noodles drops back looking for a leg! St Pierre is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and St Pierre manages to kick Noodles off! Noodles jumps back into St Pierre's guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for St Pierre. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Noodles is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and St Pierre defends it well.

Spike St Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Noodles is defended easily by St Pierre.

St Pierre bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Noodles is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on St Pierre's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

St Pierre has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Noodles takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

St Pierre working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Noodles can't do much from the bottom here.
Noodles takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
St Pierre scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Noodles is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and St Pierre can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Spike St Pierre!
Spike St Pierre made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Its great to get redemption in the cage and now to move on to TUF V-MMA Edition with the likes of up and coming Rockstar from Mars Nate Diaz this is truly an honour.'.
Ramen Noodles spoke after the fight, saying 'best two out of three?'.
