Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rupert Whiston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Bush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bush has chosen Star splangled SPANNER as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rupert Whiston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, George Bush !
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whiston throws a jab but it's blocked by Bush .
Whiston throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bush throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Whiston's waist but Whiston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bush off to one side.
Whiston throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A swing and a miss from Whiston.

Bush has taken the fight to the clinch.

Bush escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bush misses with a takedown attempt - Whiston sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Whiston misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whiston throws a lazy right hand but Bush sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Whiston is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Bush 's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Bush dives in and grabs Whiston's left leg, looking for a takedown. Whiston pushes down on Bush 's head and hops out.

Bush bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Bush postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Bush stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Bush fails with a takedown attempt.

Bush steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Whiston.
Bush takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Bush shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Whiston as he jumps to the side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rupert Whiston will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bush dives in for a single leg takedown but Whiston sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Whiston tries to circle away but Bush has him pinned against the cage.
Whiston wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bush has him pressed against the cage.

George Bush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bush moves into range and clinches up with Whiston.

Bush gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bush is keen to just control but Whiston is a slippery customer.
Whiston is looking for a sweep. Bush is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Whiston tries to kick Bush off but Bush keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Whiston manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bush keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Bush tries to pull guard but Whiston holds him up against the cage and eventually Bush drops back down to his feet.

Bush pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Whiston stands up and waves to Bush to follow him.
Bush shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Whiston but Whiston pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bush takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
George Bush is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Whiston, as that shot connected.

It looks like George Bush has been cut.
Whiston is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bush can do to turn this around?

Bush gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bush keeps control of Whiston as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Whiston gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bush .
Whiston looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Whiston manages to break the clinch.

Bush closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

This has been an exciting period of action!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rupert Whiston.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Whiston, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
