PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Louis Prince (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Louis Prince!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor Rice!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rice throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Prince tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rice is in Prince's guard.
Prince pulls Rice in close to prevent any damage.
Rice slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rice with a flurry of punches that miss.
Rice wants to pass the guard but Prince is keeping the position.

Rice trying to control but Prince is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rice avoids a kick to the body.
Prince wants to slow Rice down by chopping away at his legs.
Rice shoots in for a double leg but Prince sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Prince avoids the head kick by Rice.

Prince manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rice on his heels. He'll look to pass Rice's guard now, I'm sure.

Prince slips nicely into half guard.
Prince thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rice's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prince is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Rice is trying to control but can't.

Rice is not content to let Prince control the position.
Rice tries to roll over but Prince keeps him under control.
Rice trying to control from the bottom.
Rice is looking to improve his position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Prince wants to pass the guard but Rice is defending well.
Prince is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Prince misses the shot to the body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rice clinches up against the cage.
Rice is trying to maintain a safe position but Prince gets an underhook and turns Rice into the cage.
Prince tries a knee to the head but Rice blocks it.
Prince avoiding damage.
Rice goes for a takedown attempt but Prince pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Rice clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Prince with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Prince tries a knee to the head but Rice blocks it.
Prince doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Prince creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Louis Prince dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Prince closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rice to the mat! Rice manages to get full guard.
Prince seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Prince's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Prince seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rice for as long as he can get away with.
Prince advances to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Prince uses his free foot to push down on Rice's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rice.

Prince tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rice manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Prince wants to pass to mount but Rice is defending the position.
Rice wants to get back to full guard.
Prince seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rice does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Prince blocks the strikes from Rice.
Louis Prince overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rice is staying active underneath Prince, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rice is trying to stand back up but Prince is controlling him
Prince moves into full mount! Rice won't be happy about that!
Rice is squirming around, avoiding Prince's attempts to control the action.
Prince is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rice can do to turn this around?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
BOOM! Prince connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rice is bucking up trying to escape but Prince cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Rice is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Rice tries to hold on but Prince pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Prince manages to break the clinch.
Prince tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rice defends well and Prince ends up having to push Rice into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Prince doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Rice avoids the elbow strike from Prince, against the cage.
Rice is trying to force a seperation but Prince has the dominant position.

Rice is fighting off a takedown attempt but Prince is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rice to the mat. Rice regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Prince pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rice is keeping the position for now.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Prince not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Prince gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rice to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Prince is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Rice drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rice jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Rice postures up and lands a big shot to Prince's brow.
Prince has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Rice wants to control from the top but Prince keeps moving.
Rice would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Rice looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Prince does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rice is defended easily by Prince.

Rice gets a clinch.
Louis Prince is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rice tries to pull guard but Prince holds him up against the cage and eventually Rice drops back down to his feet.
Rice is trying to push Prince away but Prince has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Prince lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Rice is looking for a sweep. Prince is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rice won't allow Prince to pass to mount.
Connor Rice has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rice is trying to stand back up but Prince is controlling him

Well Prince has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
