PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Temudjin Khaan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chico Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khaan comes to the cage accompanied by Genghis Khan. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Temudjin Khaan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Chico Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sanchez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Khaan lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Jab, jab by Khaan - just one landing.

Sanchez closes the distance and clinches.
Sanchez stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Sanchez manages to break the clinch.
That kick from Sanchez tenderised Khaan's leg. Khaan is trying to keep his angry face on.

The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Khaan enables Sanchez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Khaan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Khaan has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

and Khaan counters with a left to the body.

and Khaan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Khaan pushes Sanchez up against the cage in a clinch.

Sanchez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sanchez shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Khaan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sanchez was well out of range. Poor timing from Khaan.

Sanchez doesn't manage to clinch there - Khaan circles away.

Sanchez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Khaan, pushing him back against the cage.

Sanchez crunches a lovely knee into Khaan's ribcage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Khaan misses with a hook from the clinch.
Sanchez tries to land knees in the clinch but Khaan avoids the damage to the body.
Khaan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Khaan doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Khaan throws a punch but it's blocked by Sanchez.

Sanchez breaks from the clinch.
Sanchez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Khaan swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Chico Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Khaan counters with a good low kick that Sanchez was not able to check.
Sanchez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khaan is fending him off so far but Sanchez persists. Nope, Khaan circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Temudjin Khaan dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sanchez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Khaan circles away quickly and effectively.

Khaan tries to keep at a distance but Sanchez has taken the fight into the clinch.

Sanchez is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Khaan lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Sanchez or not.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Khaan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sanchez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Sanchez lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Khaan sprawling to the canvas. Sanchez follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Khaan hang on?

This has been an exciting period of action!

Sanchez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Khaan to get to his feet.

Sanchez misses with a series of wild punches.
Khaan misses with a low kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sanchez. Khaan does a little dance to reset his feet.
