PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Avro Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanders has chosen I Have a Dream as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Avro Lancaster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rod Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Anthony Taglia and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanders shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lancaster manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Sanders has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at WildBoar's Pig Pen (Strength and Conditioning) $40. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanders is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lancaster is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Sanders connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lancaster some visible discomfort.
Lancaster takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Lancaster working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanders doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanders manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Lancaster.

Sanders closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sanders goes for an armbar but Lancaster turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lancaster.
Sanders is trying to keep Lancaster in close.
Sanders is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lancaster wants to get up but he can't break Sanders's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sanders bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lancaster's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lancaster stops Sanders from passing to mount.
Rod Sanders has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lancaster wants to control but Sanders postures up.

Sanders lands an elbow.

Sanders swings around for an armbar but Lancaster sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sanders's guard.

Rod Sanders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sanders is looking for a kimura but Lancaster is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sanders to get the leverage.

Lancaster avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sanders.

Sanders is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lancaster doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sanders.
Sanders uses his free foot to push down on Lancaster's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lancaster.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sanders prevents Lancaster from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lancaster regains half guard.
Lancaster avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sanders.

Sanders is looking for a kimura here.

Lancaster is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sanders is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lancaster throws a chopping leg kick but Sanders manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sanders misses with a kick to the body.
Avro Lancaster is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lancaster stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanders. Sanders gets slowly back to his feet.
Rod Sanders is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Avro Lancaster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rod Sanders.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sanders shoots in looking for a takedown. Lancaster tries to sprawl out of it but Sanders keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lancaster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sanders slips a jab from Lancaster.
Lancaster stuffs the takedown attempt from Sanders. Sanders gets slowly back to his feet.
Sanders misses with an attempted mid kick.
Sanders fails to land the takedown.
Lancaster throws a lazy head kick
and Sanders counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Rod Sanders comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Sanders winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
