The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tickel misses with a body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tickel is defended easily by Dean.
Tickel blocks a leg kick.
Dean closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tickel circles away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dean or perhaps it was just good defense by Tickel, which made it look bad.
Tickel cracks Dean with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Tickel takes a swing at Dean's ribcage but misses.
Tickel misses with a body shot.
Tickel has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dean is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Tickel swings for the body but Dean moves out of range.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dean has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tickel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dean gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dean stays in close to Tickel's body and controls the position.
Dean lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Tickel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dean's guard.

Dean controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dean makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Tickel is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dean frees his head nicely. Oh but Tickel has switched to an armbar! Dean is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
