The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langerholc has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Langerholc there as he acknowledges the shot.
Velasqs misses with a left hand

and Langerholc decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Velasqs's guard.
Langerholc lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Langerholc tries to free his leg and advance position but Velasqs is retaining full guard.

Velasqs looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Langerholc has picked Velasqs up and slammed him! Velasqs can't keep hold of the triangle and Langerholc manages to pass to side control!
Langerholc scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Velasqs to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Langerholc working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
