Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Page (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Page will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Roberto Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Page!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Ackerman and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia misses with a takedown attempt
and Page counters with a solid body kick.
Garcia throws a leg kick
and Page counters with a stiff right hand.
Garcia swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Page makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Garcia throws a lazy head kick
letting Page counter with a right hand.

Garcia gets a takedown into half guard.
Garcia has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Garcia takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Page looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Page is trying to stand up here but Garcia is controlling him well.
Garcia missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Page is looking for a sweep. Garcia is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Garcia looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Page with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Page looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Page tries to kick Garcia off but Garcia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Garcia is nestled in close to Page, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Page is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Garcia seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Page does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Garcia clinches up with Page and pushes him back against the cage.

Page manages to break the clinch.

Page misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Garcia.
Page with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

and Page counters with a low kick, right behind Garcia 's knee.
Page displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Garcia throws out the jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Page! But no joy.

Garcia is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Garcia takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roberto Garcia. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Page manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Garcia on his heels. He'll look to pass Garcia's guard now, I'm sure.
Page wanted to stand there but Garcia had control of the position.

Page drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Page jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Page drops back looking for a leg! Garcia is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Garcia manages to kick Page off! Page jumps back into Garcia's guard.

Page stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Garcia tries to clinch but Page is having none of it.
Garcia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Page counters with a stiff right hand.
Page's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Page duly obliges.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Garcia is defended easily by Page.

Page decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Page is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Garcia defends it well.
Garcia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Page dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Page stuffs the takedown.
Page wants to counter with a clinch but Garcia pushes him away.
A jab lands there for Page.

Garcia shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Garcia showed some decent athleticism there.

Garcia has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Page has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Page is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Garcia pulls his head out easily.

Page looks like he's trying to stand up.

Garcia in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Page tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Garcia!
