Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Julio Cesar Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Musashi is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Chavez has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Chavez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Musashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Musashi has the hooks in. Chavez is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Musashi is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Chavez is defending well though. Musashi let's go of the attempt for now.

Musashi shoots in for a takedown but Chavez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Julio Cesar Chavez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Musashi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Chavez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Chavez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Musashi has him pressed against the cage.

Chavez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Musashi's head backwards.
Musashi tries to land a leg kick but Chavez saw it coming and moves away.
Chavez is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Musashi rather than just go for the knockout.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chavez's jab looks to have found its range, popping Musashi under the eye.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Musashi uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Chavez.

I think Chavez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
