The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darroch tries to clinch but Mccormick moves out of range.
Darroch tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mccormick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Darroch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Darroch throws a low kick but Mccormick avoids it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mccormick looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Darroch shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Darroch was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Darroch tries to move to mount but Mccormick blocks the move with his legs.

Mccormick is not content to let Darroch control the position.

Mccormick pushes Darroch away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Darroch gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Darroch has control of an arm but Mccormick manages to advance to Darroch's back!

Mccormick is looking for a choke. Darroch gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Darroch manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Darroch decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mccormick, up you get!

Darroch closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mccormick did well to prevent Darroch getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Darroch tries to pass to full mount but Mccormick defends it.

Darroch tries to close the distance and clinch but Mccormick swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Darroch is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Darroch arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Mccormick's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
