PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tracy Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Moore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Moore will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tracy Powell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Moore!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moore closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Moore pulls guard.
Powell wants to stand and escape but instead Moore has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Powell is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Moore presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Moore goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Moore gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moore tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The fighters are battling for position here. Powell manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Powell trying to keep a closed guard but Moore is proving a slippery customer.
Moore wants to stand but Powell is controlling his posture from full guard.
Moore is fighting to break Powell's control of his arms but Powell is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Moore shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Powell manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Moore has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Powell is proving hard to escape from.
Powell is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Powell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Moore's guard.


Moore had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Powell defends it easily.
Moore is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Powell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Moore works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Moore feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Powell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Powell is looking to stand up but Moore isn't so interested in that idea.
Powell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Powell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Powell is trying to keep Moore in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Moore controls from within his opponent's guard.
Powell is pulling down on Moore's head to control his posture.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Moore closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Powell quickly recovers to half guard.
Powell moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Powell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moore is controlling him.
Moore wants to stand but Powell is controlling his posture from full guard.
Moore has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Powell is pulling down on Moore's head. It's preventing any offense from Moore, at least for the moment.

Moore prevents Powell from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Moore wanted to stand there but Powell had control of the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Powell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Moore gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Moore must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Powell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Moore tries to stall but Powell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Moore takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Moore blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Powell pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Powell tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Moore avoids it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Moore pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Powell enables Moore to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Powell manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Moore is breathing heavily.
Powell wants to get back to his feet but Moore is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Daniel Moore showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Powell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Powell throwing shots but Moore is blocking nicely.
Moore is trying to maintain the position but Powell is very close to passing his half guard.
Powell content to control rather than advance.
Powell takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Powell stands up and beckons Moore to join him on the feet.

Moore darts in and clinches Powell up against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Moore jumps guard and drags Powell to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Powell gets to his feet - Moore follows without any prompting.
Moore misses with a few strikes there.
Powell throws a half hearted mid kick.
Moore leaves Powell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Powell gets caught flat footed, as Moore shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Moore takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Powell is pulling down on Moore's head to control his posture.
Powell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Powell has his feet on Moore's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Tracy Powell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Moore crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Powell - the referee stops the clock and Moore gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Powell. Moore manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Powell is on top in guard.

Powell is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Powell is standing up over Moore. Moore looks to escape but Powell dives into side control.
Powell is looking to take a break and control but Moore is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Moore has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
