Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guilherme Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kuroda Atsushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Guerreiro by Curumin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Guilherme Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kuroda Atsushi!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Eliza Hachem and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Atsushi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alves momentarily.
Atsushi moves forwards but Alves connects with a nice, crisp jab.
We've been hearing reports that Alves has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Atsushi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Alves uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Atsushi steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Alves. That one must have hurt.

Atsushi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alves has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Alves throws an elbow that misses. Atsushi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Alves's guard. Nice move by Atsushi!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Alves had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Atsushi defends it easily.

Alves has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Atsushi.
Atsushi throws a hook but Alves avoids it easily.

Atsushi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Alves's corner calls for a 1-2. Alves obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Alves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Atsushi pinned against the cage. Atsushi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Atsushi lets loose with a powerful body kick. Alves will feel that in the morning.

Alves tries to clinch but Atsushi is having none of it.

Atsushi throws an overhand right that lands on Alves's shoulder, as Alves tries to avoid the shot.

That was a close second round but I would say that Guilherme Alves will probably get the nod.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alves postures up and lands a big shot to Atsushi's brow.
Alves throws an elbow that misses. Atsushi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Alves's guard. Nice move by Atsushi!

Alves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Atsushi manages to get himself to full guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alves, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
