The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duke tries for a takedown but Patton sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Patton.
Patton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Duke counters by clinching up.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellsworth Patton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Duke escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Patton gets tackled into the cage by Duke. Duke maintains the clinch.
Patton is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Duke to keep the fight standing.

Duke manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Patton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Duke.

and Duke counters with a nice double leg into side control. Patton won't be happy with that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Duke tries to stand but Patton is controlling his head.
Patton is letting Duke control him for a moment.
Duke prevents Patton from escaping the position.
Duke tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Patton is looking for a sweep.
Duke advances nicely into full mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Duke connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Patton is looking to improve his position but Duke isn't that keen on the idea.
