PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wladyslaw Raginis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randolph Turpin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). He arrived on a last minute flight shortly after looking tired and unhappy. Officials decided the fight should still take place, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wladyslaw Raginis and Randolph Turpin. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wladyslaw Raginis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Randolph Turpin!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raginis tries to clinch up but Turpin circles away and keeps his distance.
Turpin lands a jab to Raginis's midsection.
Turpin moves out of range of the leg kick from Raginis.
Turpin moves out of range as Raginis strikes.
A slow jab from Raginis misses its intended target.
Raginis takes a jab right on the kisser.


It looks like Wladyslaw Raginis has been cut.
Raginis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Raginis throws a big shot that misses.
Turpin just misses with a punch to the body.
Raginis throws a looping overhand right but Turpin ducks down to avoid it.
Raginis tries to clinch up but Turpin circles away and keeps his distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Raginis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Raginis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Turpin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Turpin has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Raginis throws a body punch but Turpin moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Turpin. Raginis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wladyslaw Raginis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Raginis swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Turpin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Turpin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Raginis wants to clinch.
Nice body punch from Turpin.
Turpin throws out a powerful jab.
Raginis throws a right and a left that Turpin avoids nicely.
Turpin swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Turpin counters with a good low kick that Raginis was not able to check.
Turpin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Turpin counters with a right hand to the body.
Raginis is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Raginis takes one on the button.
Raginis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Turpin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Turpin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


Wladyslaw Raginis's cut is getting worse.
Raginis lands an overhand right.
Raginis scoring well with a low kick there.
Nice straight punches there by Turpin. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Turpin.
Raginis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Turpin avoids it really well and circles away.
Raginis loads up on a big right hand but Turpin slips the punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raginis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Turpin moves away.
Turpin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Raginis's head.
Raginis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wladyslaw Raginis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Raginis throws a sloppy head kick and Turpin moves out of range easily.
Turpin slaps away a takedown attempt from Raginis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Turpin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Turpin has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Turpin, right into the meat.
Raginis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Turpin is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Raginis pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Raginis takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Raginis swings for the body but Turpin moves out of range.
Turpin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Raginis doesn't seem bothered though.
Turpin sizes up Raginis with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Turpin cracks Raginis with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Turpin has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Raginis to stand back up!


Wladyslaw Raginis's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Turpin cracks a nice hook into Raginis's ribs.
Raginis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Turpin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Turpin moves into range and connects with a jab.


Raginis is rocked!


Jeez, Wladyslaw Raginis's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Turpin lands a brutal uppercut that launches Raginis off his feet! Raginis tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Randolph Turpin!
Randolph Turpin opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
