PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Barbosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Probert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barbosa comes into the arena with Kick In the Door blaring out of the sound system. Probert is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Suffer, Conquer - Throwdown. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hector Barbosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Probert!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Probert. Barbosa does a little dance to reset his feet.
Probert misses with a wild body shot.
Probert moves out of range of the body kick from Barbosa.
Barbosa tries to clinch but Probert moves out of range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Barbosa.
Probert has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Barbosa misses with a leg kick
and Probert counters with a nice low kick that buckles Barbosa's knee momentarily.
Barbosa thows a leg kick but Probert checks it
and Probert counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Bob Probert has been cut.
Probert throws a shot to the body.
Barbosa throws a low kick but Probert moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barbosa feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Proberts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A jab from Probert misses.
Barbosa throws a head kick that half lands.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barbosa takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Probert tries to land a leg kick but Barbosa saw it coming and moves away.

Barbosa walks into a stiff left hand from Probert.
Probert scores with a punch to the head.
Barbosa moves in looking to clinch but Probert pushes him off.
Barbosa looks for the body kick but Probert saw that one coming.
Probert throws the left hand but Barbosa avoids the punch easily.

A jab-cross combination lands for Probert and sends Barbosa crashing to the mat! Probert follows him down to the mat - Barbosa regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

It looks like Hector Barbosa has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Probert is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Barbosa doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Probert.
Probert is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Barbosa reverses the position - he's now on top in Probert's guard.

Probert has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barbosa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Barbosa wants to control from the top but Probert keeps moving.
Barbosa wants to stand but Probert is controlling his posture from full guard.

Barbosa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Barbosa controls from within his opponent's guard.
Barbosa passes Probert's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Probert tries to roll over but Barbosa keeps him under control.
Barbosa is trying to control the action in half guard but Probert is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Probert moves into full guard.
Barbosa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Probert is keeping the position for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Probert had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barbosa defends it easily.
Barbosa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Probert looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Probert has his foot on Barbosa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barbosa works his way back into a safe position though.

Barbosa is sitting in close to Probert's body. Probert has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Barbosa is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Barbosa is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Probert.
