Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Monterrey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
26 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lou Ferrigno!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferrigno shoots in looking for a takedown. Monterrey tries to sprawl out of it but Ferrigno keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Monterrey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Monterrey lands a head kick. Ferrigno smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Ferrigno is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Monterrey's half guard.
Monterrey tries to roll over but Ferrigno keeps him under control.
Ferrigno is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Monterrey doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ferrigno.
Monterrey is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ferrigno's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ferrigno's back!

Ferrigno rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Ferrigno looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ferrigno has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Monterrey is working away from the top position though.
Ferrigno actively working from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Monterrey in particular looking to stall.
Monterrey trying to pass the guard but Ferrigno defending well.
Ferrigno is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ferrigno wants to control but Monterrey is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Ferrigno moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ferrigno has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Monterrey doesn't defend quickly enough and Ferrigno has managed to lock this one up! Can Monterrey escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Ferrigno on a fantastic submission victory.
