PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Gongor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robo Pope (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pope is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ghost - Monstrance Clock. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pope looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pope looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Pope throws a combination that misses
and Gongor counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Gongor drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pope is trying to escape the position but Gongor is controlling the position.

Gongor decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pope to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Pope. No joy for Gongor on that attempt.
Gongor shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pope as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gongor misses with a takedown attempt - Pope sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter Gongor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gongor throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pope tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gongor is in Pope's guard.

Gongor cracks Pope with a solid left hand.
Gongor is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pope gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gongor stands up and waves to Pope to follow him.

Gongor shoots in looking for a takedown but Pope manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gongor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Pope throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gongor counters with a nice low kick that buckles Pope's knee momentarily.
Gongor grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Pope takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Gongor cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Robo Pope was interviewed post fight and said 'Vengeance is mine.'.
