PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ned Gein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Wuzz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gein comes into the arena with 'Mama Said Knock You Out' by LL Cool J blaring out of the sound system. Ned Gein has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Ned Gein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, David Wuzz!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wuzz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wuzz or perhaps it was just good defense by Gein, which made it look bad.
Gein takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Wuzz clinches up against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Wuzz.

Gein breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Gein fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wuzz sprawls well initially but Gein persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gein content to control rather than advance.
Gein trying to control the action but Wuzz is working from the bottom.
Wuzz slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Wuzz throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Gein avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gein wants to pass the guard but Wuzz is keeping the position.
Wuzz looking for a sweep. Not yet Wuzz, not yet.

Wuzz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gein tries to pass to full mount but Wuzz defends it.

Gein avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Wuzz is looking to sweep but instead, Gein has passed into half guard.

Gein is trying to work for a kimura but Wuzz is defending well.
Gein wants to take a breather but Wuzz is having none of it.
Wuzz tries to roll over but Gein keeps him under control.

Gein seems to be working for a kimura but Wuzz defends the submission attempt.
Wuzz tries to get to full guard but Gein has control of the leg.

Wuzz keeps trying to improve his position.
Gein keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Gein tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wuzz knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Wuzz is looking for a sweep. Gein is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Wuzz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gein pulls his head out easily.
Gein is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wuzz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wuzz is pressing down on Gein's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gein pushes down on Wuzz's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gein takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Wuzz tries to get to full guard but Gein has control of the leg.
Wuzz tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Wuzz regains full guard. Nicely done.

Gein got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wuzz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gein has managed to get both his arms back between Wuzz's legs - danger averted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Wuzz looking for a guillotine here but Gein defends easily.
Gein stands and throws Wuzz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Gein dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Gein misses with an uppercut. Wuzz saw that one coming.
Wuzz has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Gein is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Wuzz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Gein has managed to clinch.
Wuzz jumps guard but Gein turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Wuzz is trying to pull guard but Gein has him pressed against the cage.
Ned Gein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wuzz.

Wuzz tightens his grip and picks Gein up, before dumping him to the ground. Gein manages to land in guard.
Wuzz won't allow Gein to sweep him here.
Gein lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wuzz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gein gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wuzz trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Gein seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Wuzz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gein connects with a couple of short punches.
Gein pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wuzz is keeping the position for now.

Wuzz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gein trying to control but Wuzz is working from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gein works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Wuzz looking for submissions off his back.
Gein works his way into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gein tries to move to mount but Wuzz blocks the move with his legs.
Wuzz tries to buck Gein off but Gein is having none of it.
Gein wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wuzz keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gein gets to mount! Wuzz was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Wuzz is trying to escape the mount.
Gein looking to control but Wuzz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gein sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Wuzz slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Wuzz wants to get back to full guard.

Gein seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wuzz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Wuzz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gein sprawls well. Gein wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wuzz gets slowly back to his feet.

David Wuzz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gein counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ned Gein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Wuzz.
Gein tries to close the distance and clinch but Wuzz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gein is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wuzz can do to turn this around?
