Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manfred Honeypott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Backlund (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manfred Honeypott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Backlund!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Honeypott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Left hook, right uppercut from Honeypott.
Backlund on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Honeypott cracks Backlund with a good jab.
Honeypott swats away the attempt to clinch by Backlund.
Backlund fails in his attempt to clinch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Honeypott, as that shot connected.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Backlund has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Backlund throws a body punch but Honeypott moves out of range.
Honeypott throws a series of strikes that have Backlund backpedaling.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Backlund has taken the fight to the clinch.
Backlund wants a takedown but no success here.
Honeypott tries to break free but Backlund pushes him back against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Backlund slowing the pace effectively.

Backlund drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Honeypott gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Honeypott wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Backlund pulls guard effortlessly.
Backlund wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Honeypott manages to pass to side control.
Backlund is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Honeypott's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Honeypott's back!
Backlund throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Honeypott!
Honeypott has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Backlund.
Honeypott rolls, trying to escape but Backlund keeps control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Backlund working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Backlund is looking for the choke from the back position but Honeypott is controlling his hands well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Backlund misses with a punch to the head.
Backlund throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Backlund has got one arm under Honeypott's chin. This could be trouble... Honeypott trying to control the other hand but Backlund gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Honeypott has tapped out! The fight is over!
