Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Derek Starkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derek Starkey has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Derek Starkey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Josh Miller!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller looks to land a right hand but Starkey moved out of range.
Miller throws a big shot that misses.

Miller has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Miller misses with a hook. Starkey ducked under it nicely.
Starkey keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Miller.

and Starkey counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Starkey works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Starkey definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Miller is trying to control but can't.
Well, if Starkey is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Miller throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Starkey slips under a jab.

Miller tries to score a power double leg takedown but Starkey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Miller somewhat.
Miller goes for a double leg but Starkey avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Starkey continues to drive forward.

Miller ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Miller no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Starkey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miller swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Starkey wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving.

Starkey is trying to control the action in half guard but Miller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Starkey is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Starkey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miller keeps working.

Starkey perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Miller throws a chopping leg kick but Starkey manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Josh Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Starkey is working away from the top position though.

Josh Miller decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
