Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Viet Tran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Watt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Watt has chosen Edmund Fitzgerald as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scott Watt!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tran tries to keep at a distance but Watt has taken the fight into the clinch.
Tran is trying to break the clinch but Watt has him pressed against the cage.
Watt is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Tran is trying to break free.
Tran takes a knee right on the jaw!
Watt is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Tran is working for takedown but Watt is calmly controlling the position for now.
Tran is trying to force a seperation but Watt has the dominant position.
Watt keeps control of Tran as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Tran is looking to break free of the clinch but Watt has double underhooks.
Watt landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Tran is looking to take this one to the mat.
Watt digs a right hand into Tran's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Tran's gas tank.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Watt keeps control of Tran as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Watt creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Tran's defenses.
Watt lands a body shot.
Tran tries to pull guard but Watt holds him up against the cage and eventually Tran drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Viet Tran. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Watt scores a nice knee to the body.
Tran tries to circle away but Watt has him pinned against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Watt has clasped his hands together around Tran's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Watt is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tran has escaped the position, nice work there.
Watt moves into full mount!
Watt scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Watt lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tran hang on?

Tran is breathing heavily.
Watt lands a couple of good shots and Tran has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Watt is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Tran won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Watt off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Scott Watt!
