The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlyle shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Evil pinned against the cage. Evil gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Evil cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Evil throws an off balance right hand

so Carlyle counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Carlyle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Carlyle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlyle works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Carlyle throwing shots but Evil is blocking nicely.

Carlyle wants to work for an arm triangle but Evil is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Evil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlyle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Carlyle is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Evil looks like he's trying to stand up.
Carlyle moves nicely into side control.

Carlyle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Evil is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Carlyle is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Evil has escaped the position, nice work there.
Carlyle scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Evil to see if he's OK.

Carlyle is working to tighten his grip on Evil's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Evil has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Carlyle is really squeezing tight and eventually Evil passes out! Carlyle breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
