PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Zac Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Carlyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Charles Carlyle was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Zac Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Charles Carlyle!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlyle fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rogers has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rogers misses with a takedown
and Rogers takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rogers shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Carlyle pinned against the cage. Carlyle gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Carlyle changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogers shoots and misses
and Carlyle counters with a two punch combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zac Rogers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A shot to the liver by Carlyle. Beautiful body shot.
Carlyle bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carlyle throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Carlyle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rogers did well to prevent Carlyle getting side control.
Rogers is trying to stand.

Carlyle looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rogers is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Carlyle scores with a couple of nice shots.

Carlyle is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rogers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Carlyle stops Rogers from getting back to his feet.
Rogers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Carlyle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carlyle is trying for a kimura here. Rogers looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Carlyle wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Charles Carlyle!
