Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rene Winters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Cortes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rene Winters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Felipe Cortes!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cortes wants it to stay on the feet.
Winters closes the distance and clinches up with Cortes, looking for a takedown. Winters pushes Cortes against the cage but Cortes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cortes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cortes is working for a kimura but Winters is defending it quite comfortably.
Winters wants to get back to full guard but Cortes has passed into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cortes advances nicely into full mount.

Cortes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Winters can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Cortes throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Winters because Cortes loaded up on that one.
Cortes unloads with some shots from mount but Winters bucks and avoids them well.
Cortes throws some wild stikes that Winters manages to avoid easily.
Cortes throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Cortes tries to score with some ground and pound. Winters controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Winters wants to control but Cortes postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Winters is in all sorts of trouble here.
Cortes controlling the position easily from mount.
Cortes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Cortes is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Winters still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Winters has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Winters throws a strike but Cortes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Felipe Cortes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Cortes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Winters manages to avoid it.

Cortes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Winters is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cortes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cortes's back!

Winters is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Winters throwing strikes here but Cortes is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Cortes wants to control but Winters is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Winters with the ground and pound but Cortes uses the opportunity to regain guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cortes. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Winters throws a big elbow that misses.

Cortes has his foot on Winters's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Winters works his way back into a safe position though.
Cortes is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Cortes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Cortes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cortes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Winters keeps working.

Winters wants to control but Cortes postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Winters is not content to let Cortes control the position.
Winters tries to improve position but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
No luck for Winters with that takedown attempt.

Cortes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cortes showed some decent athleticism there.
Rene Winters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Felipe Cortes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Cortes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
