PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wirbel Schwein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kevin Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wirbel Schwein!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwein ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Both fighters circling a little - Schwein finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Wirbel Schwein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schwein scores with a hook.

Stewart closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Schwein to the mat! Schwein manages to get full guard.
Stewart controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Stewart seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Schwein for as long as he can get away with.
Stewart's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Stewart gets to his feet. Schwein looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The fight stays on the outside here - Stewart looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Schwein takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Kevin Stewart has been cut.

Schwein gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stewart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Schwein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stewart. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stewart stands and steps away. Schwein gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Stewart doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Schwein fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Stewart looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Schwein looks to land a body kick but Stewart moved away.
Stewart tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Schwein swivels and escapes.
Schwein scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Stewart doesn't seem bothered though.

Stewart shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Schwein manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Stewart prevents Schwein from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stewart is looking to stand up but Schwein won't let him.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schwein can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stewart wants to get up but he can't break Schwein's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stewart throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schwein's waist but Schwein gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stewart off to one side.

Stewart looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stewart is taking a breather. Schwein says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Wirbel Schwein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Stewart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Schwein sprawls well. Schwein wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stewart gets slowly back to his feet.

Schwein wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Schwein is trying to control Stewart's posture but Stewart avoids it.

Stewart advances nicely into full mount.

Stewart is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Schwein is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Schwein flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Stewart anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Schwein and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Stewart slips an arm under Schwein chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Stewart has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Stewart is squeezing on Schwein like an anaconda would it's prey. Schwein fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kevin Stewart!
