Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ahmad Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Viet Tran!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petersen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tran sprawls well initially but Petersen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tran wants to improve his position but Petersen is controlling well.
Petersen scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Petersen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Petersen is nestled in close to Tran, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Tran is looking to improve his position.
Tran striking from half guard on the bottom.
Tran is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petersen is looking to take a break and control but Tran is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Tran missing with punches from the bottom.
Tran throws a strike from the bottom but Petersen passes into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Petersen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Tran to his feet.
Tran shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Petersen pushes Tran off and gets back to his feet.
Petersen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Tran feints a jab promting Petersen to slip. Tran then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Petersen slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Petersen is rocked!
It looks like Ahmad Petersen has been cut.
Tran swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Oh Petersen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tran dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Petersen has had enough and taps out.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Viet Tran!
