The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staam has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Matthias Staam has been cut.
Reilly misses with the combination.

Staam moves forwards but Reilly connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Reilly misses with an uppercut. Staam saw that one coming.
Staam avoids a punch combination nicely.
As Reilly tries to get set, Staam tries to push him back and clinch up but Reilly manages to avoid the attempt.
Staam takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Staam doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Staam uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Reilly.
Staam looks to land a right hand but Reilly moved out of range.
Reilly drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Staam defends it well.

Reilly lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Staam backs up against the cage.

Staam seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Staam tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reilly swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Reilly leaves Staam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Staam looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Reilly drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Staam defends it well.

Staam is looking to counter the offense by Reilly and move into the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Reilly changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Staam fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Staam moves in looking to clinch but Reilly pushes him off.
Reilly drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Staam defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Staam throws a hook but Reilly avoids it easily.

Staam fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reilly, pushing him back against the cage.
Reilly tries to score a body lock takedown but Staam shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Reilly is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Staam connects with a nasty looking knee right to Reilly's face.


Reilly is rocked!

Staam breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Reilly is still on wobbly legs! Can Staam finish him?

Staam moves into the clinch.
Matthias Staam has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Staam throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Reilly blocks it with crossed arms.
Staam with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Reilly seems to have recovered his senses.
Staam unloads a knee to the mid-section. Reilly lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Reilly is breathing heavily.
Staam working the clinch nicely. Reilly is working for position but Staam cracks him with a big knee to the head! Reilly crumples up against the cage and Staam lands two more shots before the ref can save Reilly! This one is all over!
